About Us

For more than 90 years, Pearse Bertram+ has been committed to providing the highest-quality automation and process control products and contract manufacturing services throughout New England.

The Joseph H. Bertram Company was founded in 1954 by Joseph H. Bertram in the Boston area. The company built a strong reputation in valve distribution, serving both large-scale flow control applications—including water systems, power plants, paper mills, and wastewater treatment—and smaller, high-precision systems used in machinery, aircraft engines, submarines, and other demanding applications. During the 1960s, Bertram supplied critical components for military and commercial jet engines. The company later relocated to Bloomfield, Connecticut, and shifted its focus from large valves to instrumentation products. In 1995, following Joseph Bertram’s retirement, entrepreneur Christopher Jones acquired and reorganized the business as Bertram Control Corporation, LLC.

Pearse-Pearson Company traces its roots to 1929, when George M. Pearse founded a manufacturers’ representative organization in Plainfield, New Jersey. The company moved into New England in 1947 under George Pearse Jr. and Robert Pearson, specializing in hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. Through the 1960s and 1970s, Pearse-Pearson became one of New England’s leading fluid power distributors.

As globalization challenged traditional regional manufacturers during the 1980s, the company diversified into newer automation technologies such as PLCs, sensors, and controls while developing value-added engineering capabilities. Jon Pearse, representing the fourth generation of the Pearse family, joined the company in 1995 and later became President.

In 2004, the companies combined operations and officially merged in 2006 to form Pearse Bertram, LLC.

Following the merger, Pearse Bertram continued expanding its products, engineering capabilities, and services. In 2012, it formally launched Streamline, its contract manufacturing and assembly division. Streamline now provides fully integrated, tested systems and subassemblies for OEM customers and has become one of Pearse Bertram’s fastest-growing business areas.

Four generations later, Pearse Bertram+ has become one of the most trusted providers of end-to-end manufacturing solutions. The company’s mission is simple - to serve our customers with the utmost integrity and provide an unmatched level of value.
