Pearse Bertram+ (formally known as Pearse Pearson and Bertram Controls) has been serving New England manufacturers since 1929, providing 90+ years of engineering expertise in industrial automation and contract manufacturing. Our fourth-generation family-owned business combines traditional reliability with modern innovation.

What geographic areas do you serve?
We can work with customers anywhere in the United States, and even internationally. However, our primary service areas are Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Maine, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland. Our proximity to New England manufacturing centers enables responsive service and strong regional partnerships.

What certifications does Pearse Bertram+ hold?
We maintain UL 508A certification for industrial control panel fabrication, ISO 9001:2015 quality management certification, and IPC-A-620 standards compliance. Our engineers hold specialized certifications for major automation platforms including Omron, Wago, and Unitronics. Clean room, defense, pharmaceutical, and other certifications can be accommodated when necessary.
What size companies does Pearse Bertram+ work with?
Pearse Bertram+ works with single-person proprietorships all the way up to Fortune 500 conglomerates. We are not strangers to working with small, medium, and large companies and the related requirements and challenges they each have.
When is Pearse Bertram+ open? Are you open to tours?
Yes! Pearse Bertram is open 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Tours are always welcome and can be booked by contacting us via phone or email.
How many locations does Pearse Bertram+ have?
Pearse Bertram has 2 buildings (18 Tobey Road and 22 Tobey Road) in Bloomfield, CT. These buildings represent a combined 30,000 square feet of manufacturing and stocking space.
Does Pearse Bertram have stock I can access?
Pearse Bertram has over $4 million of product in stock that anyone can access. We can also create specific stocking arrangements for your needs. Pearse Bertram does not have a general store front, but we welcome you to stop by to purchase products.

What services does Pearse Bertram+ Streamline Contract Manufacturing provide?
Pearse Bertram offers unparalleled customer services including free/onsite technical support, part number crossover/selection support, value engineering, outdated part advice, safety audits, programming and integration, stocking, private delivery, order fulfillment, kitting, testing, custom packaging, engineering and design, and manuals and replacement schedule suggestions. We offer comprehensive contract manufacturing solutions including UL 508A control panels, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, process assemblies, and full turnkey machines. We serve as both an industrial distributor and full-service contract manufacturer.
Do you offer both products and services?
Yes, we operate a dual business model. We distribute components from 60+ trusted suppliers (pneumatics, hydraulics, valves, electrical components) and provide complete engineering and manufacturing services from design through delivery.
Can you help with design, or do you need a complete project?
We're flexible. Some clients need engineering consultation and design, while others want build-to-print services. Our engineers work with you to determine the optimal level of support for your specific project requirements. You can feel free to involve us at any stage of your project, the sooner the better.
What is your typical project size/volume/complexity range?
We will always be happy to take your call and evaluate any project you are working on. Ideally, we work with OEMs who expect repeat orders, but we have worked on projects as small as one piece. We can provide small devices up to machines that weigh several tons. We have worked on projects that are very simple, up to BOMs with thousands of lines featuring complex integration and programming.
Do you provide maintenance and support after installation? What is the warranty policy?
If a product requires routine maintenance, troubleshooting, or you need technical support after delivery, Pearse Bertram is happy to provide that information free of charge. We can also suggest maintenance/spare parts and schedules, and create operation manuals for your team. In general, Pearse Bertram personnel do not provide routine service or maintenance. We are also not in the business of doing general repairs, rebuilds, wiring, or installation. However, we have a network of colleagues that we can point you to for those kinds of services.
What capabilities do you have in-house
Pearse Bertram has a plethora of in-house capabilities including painting, welding, plasma cutting, hydrogen leak testing, load/electrical testing, tube cutting, thread taping, crimping/splicing, assembly, stocking, kitting, labeling, packaging, etc. We have a trusted and vetted network of suppliers that we can rely on for things like wire harnesses, anodizing, PCBs, sheet metal fabrication, plastic injection molding, orbital welding, 3D printing, etc.

Do you have experience working with startups and early-stage companies?
Yes, startups and early stage companies often don’t have the manufacturing space, personnel, or experience to bring a new product to market quickly. We can take the burden of manufacturing so your team can focus on design.
What does the process for building out this relationship and establishing business together look like?
Pearse Bertram truly values long-term relationships and believes in a collaborative approach. We welcome constant communication and in-person teamwork to learn your process and ensure the build is done correctly. We create project management schedules, perform SATs and FATs, and documentation as needed.
How do I request a quote? What information do I need?
Contact us via phone (860-242-2416) or email (expertise@pearsebertram.com) and we can get to work on your RFQ immediately. We can help you regardless of how little or how much information you have. If you are interested in contract manufacturing, we generally ask for any and all information you do have including work instructions, labor estimates, test procedures, quality inspection procedures, photos, etc.
What is your typical lead time for CM projects?
Lead times vary by project complexity and very much depend on long-lead item required for your build. Generally, customers can expect delivery after 4-6 weeks after receiving the long-lead item. Once a stocking program is established, lead time can be cut down to as quick as one day. We provide accurate timelines during the quoting process, and rushes can be made.
Can you work with my existing drawings and specifications? Can you use the brands I like?
Yes, our engineers regularly work from client-provided drawings, specifications, and designs. We can build to your exact specifications or provide value engineering recommendations to optimize performance and cost-effectiveness. We can use any brand of product.
Do you sign NDAs for project discussions?
We're happy to execute mutual non-disclosure agreements when needed. We understand the confidential nature of many manufacturing projects and maintain strict confidentiality as standard business practice.
What information should I provide when requesting engineering support? What type of engineering can you provide?
Include your application requirements, environmental conditions, performance objectives, regulatory requirements, timeline expectations, and budget parameters. The more detail you provide, the better we can tailor our recommendations to your specific needs. We specialize in electrical schematics, value engineering, and pneumatic/hydraulic design. We are not equipped for aesthetic design, PCB design, etc. However, we have partners that we can refer you to who have these services.
Do you provide samples or first articles?
Yes, Pearse Bertram is happy to provide samples and first articles in most situations. We sometimes also negotiate 30-day credit memos or loan demo equipment.
When do you like companies to engage you (what stage of design and readiness)?
We recommend that you engage with Pearse Bertram as early as possible. It may seem unnecessary, but by being involved in the early stages of decision, we can make recommendations and ensure that your product is well suited for production well before it is assembled and thus avoid duplicated efforts and redesigns.
Are there any products similar to ours that you have worked with? What are your specialties?
If you don’t see something exactly like your build pictured on our website, don’t worry. We have assembled many different types of machines and subassemblies. Please reach out to us and we can evaluate it on a case by case basis. In general, we specialize in any type of assembly that involves electrical controls, pneumatics, hydraulics, and water/chemical/gas.

We maintain ISO 9001:2015 certification and follow industry-specific standards including UL 508A for control panels, NEC Article 409, NEMA ratings, and FDA compliance requirements for pharmaceutical applications. We document quality metrics including our <0.5% return rate.
Can you help with regulatory compliance for my industry?
Our engineers understand regulatory requirements across multiple industries including FDA compliance for pharmaceuticals, HACCP standards for food processing, Class I Division ratings for hazardous locations, and ATEX compliance for European markets. Clean room, defense, and other industry requirements can be accommodated if necessary.
